Marcus Calpurnius Bibulus (c. 102–48 BC)

Marcus Calpurnius Bibulus (c. 102–48 BC): Caesar’s colleague as aedile and consul, forever second.
To stop Caesar, if only once. Bibulus was consul in 59 BC together with Caesar. When Caesar pushed through his agrarian laws, he announced bad omens and shut himself in his house, and Romans joked that the consuls were “Julius and Caesar.” Later he commanded Pompey’s fleet and died in 48 BC.
