Pharsalus (48 BC)

At Pharsalus in Thessaly the armies of Caesar and Pompey faced each other. Pompey had more than twice as many infantry and seven times as many cavalry. Caesar hid six cohorts behind a wing and routed the enemy cavalry.
Pompey fled to Egypt, where he was murdered. Among the prisoners who were spared was Brutus. Caesar had about twenty-two thousand soldiers, Pompey about forty-five thousand (Plutarch, Caesar 42).
