Decimus Brutus (d. 43 BC)

Denarius with Pietas and a handclasp, struck c. 48 BC by Decimus Brutus

Decimus Junius Brutus Albinus fought at Caesar’s side in Gaul, and Caesar entrusted him with the government of a province. He named him in his will as an heir in the second degree. At the same time Decimus belonged to the conspiracy.

On the Ides of March he persuaded the hesitant Caesar to come to the Senate, and according to Plutarch he led him by the hand. Not to be confused with Marcus Brutus.
