Pompeia (wife of Caesar c. 67–62 BC)

Pompeia was the daughter of Quintus Pompeius and the granddaughter of Sulla. Caesar married her after Cornelia’s death. In December 62 BC she hosted the Bona Dea festival in his house, to which Clodius came in disguise. Caesar divorced her at once, but in court he testified that he knew nothing of the matter. He said that his wife should be free even from suspicion.
