Flavia Domitilla (Vespasian’s wife) (died before AD 69)

Flavia Domitilla the Younger, Vespasian’s daughter, Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. No portrait of her mother survives.

Suetonius writes that she was at first the mistress of a Roman equestrian from Sabratha in Africa, and that her father, a modest quaestor’s clerk, won a court ruling that she was freeborn and a citizen. She bore Vespasian Titus, Domitian and a daughter, Domitilla. She died, like her daughter, before AD 69. She should not be confused with the Flavia Domitilla exiled to Pandateria in AD 95.
