Marcus Junius Brutus

Brutus was one of the leaders of the conspiracy against Caesar. Together with Cassius he headed more than sixty conspirators.
The conspirators feared that the dictator wanted to become king. On March 15, 44 BC, they killed him at the Theatre of Pompey.
The famous “Et tu, Brute?” comes from Shakespeare. According to Suetonius, some recorded the Greek phrase “You too, child?” It was supposedly addressed to Brutus.
In 42 BC Caesar’s assassins lost to Octavian and Antony at Philippi.
