Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa (friend and general of Octavian)

Agrippa was Octavian’s friend and commanded his fleet at Actium. According to Plutarch, he extended the left wing to outflank Antony (Antony 66). Suetonius lists him among those who raised many magnificent buildings in Rome (Augustus 29). He married Augustus’s daughter Julia, and their sons Gaius and Lucius were for years tipped as the emperor’s successors. He died in 12 BC.
